President's Message
It looks like Spring finally has arrived! We are about to enter one of our busiest seasons for the PTA. In a nutshell:
We currently are reviewing our Bylaws. Soon, you’ll have a chance to read them online before the general membership votes on them next month.
We also have formed a Nominating Committee, something we do this time each year to find volunteers to fill positions on the Executive Board. Look for an eSchoolnewsletter in the coming weeks listing the Board positions that will be available for the 2009-2010 school year. Please contact Cathy Corrao if you are interested in serving.
I’m working as a member of the Western Howard County Safety Committee on an 8th-grade Dance for students at Folly Quarter and Glenwood. The date is May 29th at the Glenwood Community Center. We'll have an Ice-breaker activity with local personality Brenda von rautenkranz, live music from a local band, and free refreshments. See page 3 of the April Falcon Notes for details.
Our Annual Kids-for-Kids Yard Sale is coming up soon, on May 9th. You can find a form for a space ($5) on this website under "Announcements and Calendar of Events."
This year, in addition to selling spaces, The FQMS students will sell donated items and the profits will go to Congregations Concerned for the Homeless, a Howard County nonprofit organization. Tax donation forms will be available. If you'd like to donate items, or make a cash donation, see the form on this website.
Our Spring Book Fair will be May 18-22 in the Media Center.
Until next time,
Peggy Johnson, President FQMS PTA
